We left the SLC airport at 9:30 am on the 30th of April. We flew straight to LAX and then randomly back to Denver before catching another plane to London. After a brief layover we caught one final plane to Barcelona. My wife Summer and I checked into our hotel and crashed for the night. (my head doesn't do very well on airplanes, so I felt extremely jet lagged). The next morning we went to Sharma Climbing BCN, a rock climbing gym founded by one of my favorite rock climbers, Chris Sharma. We then visited the Gothic Barrio and wandered around the narrow streets. We saw the Barcelona Cathedral and many other sites.
We walked down to the beach and onto a pier where we sat and stared at the ocean and walked along the beach up to our ankles in the water.
We then got back on the metro and headed to our reservation at La Sagrada Familia.
After a busy day we went back and crashed at the hotel. The next day, we were planning on hiking up to the monastery of Montserrat and to the top of Sant Jeroni. However, it was extremely rainy, and we decided to stay inside. Instead we visited the Plaza de EspaƱa and a mall inside an old arena.
The next day we had a train ticket to Zaragoza at 16:00, but we still really wanted to visit Montserrat so we took the long train ride out to the base and took the cable car up to the monastery because we did not have enough time to hike it and we admired the amazing architecture and the conglomerate rock walls.
After riding the cable car back down and the train back to Barcelona, we boarded a different train bound for Zaragoza. We arrived without any delays and caught a few different buses to arrive at the internship housing. The next day we went to church at the local church building that Summer used to attend while she served here as a missionary. We then had our site orientation and learned about the internship that was about to start the next day.
